Resources

There are many resources that God has used and still uses to help direct my understanding of Him and His word. I want to share a few of those people, books, and apps for you to enjoy when you can. Have a blessed journey!

The Bible – In Print or Digital?

Before we go to anything else, we must talk about God’s word. I am blessed to have many different Bibles in different translations. The Bible itself is my first and foremost resource for growing to know God better.

In addition to God’s word in print form, I have two digital Bible apps that I use frequently.

First is the Blue Letter Bible. I use this app for my Bible study. It allows me to look up the Hebrew and Greek words and their meanings. I also can compare translations for verses I study. I’m sure there is so much more to Blue Letter Bible. If you are interested in having a great Bible study tool available on the go, check out their app here.

YouVersion is another digital Bible. Their mobile app allows me to listen to the Bible being read while I walk. Sometimes hearing the Scripture gives a different view for me than just reading the words.

By God’s grace, His Holy Spirit is willing to live inside His children to be a guide and comforter. God’s Spirit and the Bible are enough for us to come to understand much about our Father and His kingdom. But sometimes, God allows us the help of other resources that explain concepts at a moment when we need them. Here are a few of those resources that have blessed me.

Digital Resources for Biblical Knowledge

Trans World Radio is a global radio ministry, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through shortwave, AM and FM radio, and now digital platforms. Their new TWR360 app has Bible teachings from a multitude of ministries shared in over 99 languages. Click here to begin your search for teachings by such wonderful people as Dr. Tony Evans, Dr. David Jeremiah, Dr. Irwin Lutzer, Dr. Michael Youssef, Luis Palau, and more. This is where I go to hear The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans, one of my favorite resources.

Behold Israel with Amir Tsarfati is a prophecy teaching ministry. Amir is a Messianic Jew who lives in the Galilee region of Israel. His testimony of how he came to know Jesus personally is a blessing in itself. Behold Israel’s Bible study teachings, Middle East updates, and Roundtable discussions with Amir, Barry Stagner, and Jan Markel have helped me understand not only the Scriptures related to prophecy but the times we are in and how they relate to what the Bible teaches.

The Jesus Film project has two video versions of the life of Christ. One is based on the book of John and the other on the book of Luke. Both help you “see” who Jesus is rather than just “read” His words.

Jack Hibbs is a follower of Christ who pastors a church in Chino Hills, California. God has expanded his ministry during the hard years 2020 and on. You can find church services and Bible teachings at jackhibbs.com.

Wherever you go to find encouragement, make sure to look for solid Biblical teaching.

More resources will be added over time. Come back and find additional places to look for reminders of the hope that is ours in Christ!

    Ms. Thigpen!

This is Kate Caldwell (I used to go by Katie) from GWA. I cannot believe I found you online! I am back in school taking College Algebra to finish my degree, and I have thought about you numerous times. I still remember a decent amount of what you taught, and I am doing better in the class than I thought I would, no doubt thanks to you. I would love it if you had time to respond so we could catch up a bit. I love your site so much, and I am back in school studying to be a Christian counselor. It’s so good to see your face! Oh, by the way, Tony Biscoglia (also one of your old students from GWA) and I are married now, so my last name is Biscoglia.
